COVID-19 Information

Columbia Counseling Center of Maryland are taking the necessary precaution during the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To all clients, staff, and stakeholders at Columbia Counseling Center of Maryland:

With the all the news circulating about COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), it’s hard not to feel a sense of unease about our day to day lives. But rest assured, we are doing our very best to follow guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and our local health departments. While there are recommendations against travel and large gatherings, the CDC has made it clear the chance of being infected for COVID-19 is low and the chance of recovery is very high for those who do contract the virus. Until further notice, we will continue to normal operating practices as usual unless instructed to do otherwise by our local health departments for each location.

To increase our preventative measures for the health and safety of clients and staff, we recommend taking the following steps as recommended by the CDC:

  • Stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone that may be ill
  • Limit travel except in cases of emergency at this time to reduce chance of infection
  • Avoid high traffic areas or large crowds
  • Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

In the office setting we are:

  • Increasing screening for illness during the patient/scheduling process including questions about  fevers, travel overseas, and contact with those who may have been infected by the virus
  • Increased housekeeping measures with a focus on cleaning contact surfaces such as tables, chairs, bathrooms, door handles, desks, and the like
  • Increased screening of staff for respiratory illness, and those who develop issues are to stay home until cleared by their doctor
  • Increased availability of sanitizing equipment and supplies at all locations
  • Availability of tele-health services at the discretion of the providing clinician if client meets criteria in the event of office closure or provider/client is not available for a in office visit.

This is an emerging and rapidly evolving situation and we are closely monitoring the situation within our our community. Your safety is our priority and we will continue to assess this situation.
